Thanksgiving Tutorial

It's time for another Tutorial!! With Thanksgiving only a week away I decided to recreate a manicure a friend posted on her Facebook after I showed you my halloween tutorial using JUST a Sharpie Marker!
That turned out to be pretty darn popular, so I am bringing you another tutorial using Sharpie markers.
LEAVES!
They are perfect for Fall and are definitely a lovely accent on your nails for Thanksgiving.

Lets get started!
I encourage you to try this even if you are nervous because Sharpie Markers are totally erasable on nail polish!!
I also have another Fall Tutorial HERE that is easy peasy!

First, I started by painting my nails 2 coats of a solid color. I chose OPI Vampsterdam. Any dark shade that compliments gold and bronze will do!
I have found that you don't always need to add a topcoat to make the Sharpie erasable. With a little elbow grease it will usually disappear.
Make sure you let the polish dry COMPLETELY!
(if you don't, you won't be able to rub off mistakes!)
:Patience, young grasshopper:

I used a 3 pack of Sharpies that I purchased at Target. It came with silver (not pictured) and bronze and gold colors. These will work perfect!

Using the Bronze Sharpie marker, I made a jagged outline at the top corner of my nail. This is the beginnings of a leaf!!

I then colored the leaf in.
Remember: Sharpie is erasable!
The metallic sharpies might need a little more muscle than a regular black sharpie, so I find that licking a finger and rubbing away or wetting a rag and wiping away works best!

Using the Gold Sharpie I created the outline for my second leaf in the bottom right hand corner of my nail. I made this one a little more spread out sideways.

Then I colored this leaf in too! They don't start to look like leaves until you add the veins!

Using a fine, black Sharpie I drew veins outward on my first leaf and across my second leaf.
You can create more leaves on your other nails or just leave the leaves on one nail!

Make sure to add a top coat to seal in your design!

I decided to make some other leaves. I did a couple different types on my other fingers. On my middle and pinky fingers, I created little leaves, while the leaves I showed you on my ring finger were slightly more complex. Experiment with different patterns!

Will you try this? What nail art tutorial would you like to see for Winter/Christmas?

Happy Tuesday!

Remembering Veteran's Day

I wasn't going to show you a Veteran's Day mani but I decided that it is important to remember our heroes. Especially after hearing someone at my Kickboxing class on Friday describe today as a "fake" holiday. I have a lot to say about that, but I won't bore you with a tangent! ;)

My very best friend is currently serving and I have had various friends and family serving. Once upon a Time, I also had an (ex)-boyfriend serve overseas, so the military, their services and the family/friends they leave behind, are close to my heart.

For this mani I incorporated a camo pattern with an accent nail of poppy flowers.
Polishes used: Accent nail: base of a white OPI, OPI OPI Red and an OPI green that I can't recall the name of right now. For the camo print I used a base of Revlon Spanish Moss (army green), Revlon Bare Bones (a beige), Julep Kendra (dark green) and Zoya Raven (black).

Make sure to Thank a Veteran Today! <3

Essie Fall 2013 Collection

I am starting to see all the Winter Collections cropping up in my local Ulta and drugstores, but I don't want to chase the Fall weather into Winter weather just yet! Tonight I have 4 of the 6 Essie Fall 2013 polishes, with some fun nail art!

First us is Vested Interest. This is a nice deep, dusty teal. I love this one and have worn is a couple times since I bought it.
It went on great! Swatch shown is 2 coats, plus 1 coat of NYC top coat.

Next up is Cashmere Bathrobe, a slate grey, with a subtle shimmer. The name is perfect I think! It definitely makes me think of bathrobes! I wish the shimmer in Essie polishes was a bit more pronounced, as the shimmer in this one was barely there!
Grey is such a trendy color right now and this one is a really nice shade!
This one also went one great! Swatch shown is 2 coats plus 1 coat of NYC topcoat.

Out of the bunch I purchased, For the Twill of It, was my least favorite. I had high hopes for it when it was in the bottle, because the duo chrome shift was really awesome! This was sort of a "beetle" type duo chrome with shifts from greens, to purple and grey hues. I wanted it to be more purple!

There was a lot of green shift. Overall, it was a cool polish BUT what I didn't like about it - is that it chipped SO easily! Within ONE day I was seeing major chippage! Bummer!

Now this one, The Lace is On, was my absolute favorite!! I swear it glowed from within. This color was just such a vibrant fuchsia, I could hardly stand it! I have worn this one a couple times and I had it done on my toes too!
Swatch is shown here as 2 coats with 1 coat of NYC topcoat.

Last but not least, since The Lace is On and Vested Interest were my 2 favorites, I ended out wearing them together in this funky interlocking dotticure. This looks a million times more complicated than it really is. I loved these together!

What do you think? Did you pick up any of the Fall 2013 polishes?

Hello Kitty Nail Art

Hello Hello! Well, that was the last of the Halloween festivities! Bring on the holiday shopping!
I headed into Providence this weekend for a night out with some friends and I couldn't believe how many kids were still running around in their costumes. I thought for sure the weekend after Halloween wouldn't be a big Halloween party weekend, but I was wrong. It was fun seeing everyones costumes though!

As the last of the Halloween spirit disappears, I am going to share some photos of the mani I wore to go with my costume!

I was Hello Kitty for Halloween.
Here I am in my costume with my cutesy nephew, Charlie!

I used Confetti Dance Party Pink on index and middle finger. On my ring finger, I used 2 coats of Carpe Noctem Under the Cover of Light and on my thumb and pinky, I used Razzle Dazzler from the Sally Hansen Gem Crush collection.

I ever so carefully painted Hello Kitty's lovely face onto my index finger using a toothpick and a very small dotting tool. I used an Art Club striper in black and SH Mellow Yellow for her nose and OPI Party in my Cabana for her bow.

I love how this turned out!

Is everyone ready for November?

Halloween-Eve Mash Up!

Happy Halloween-Eve! I hope everyone has something fun planned tomorrow night! I will be rushing home from work to slip into my Hello Kitty Costume (again) and will be taking my nephew trick -or- treating. Is he old enough you ask? Not even in the slightest. I am using him as a pawn to shamelessly beg for candy from my neighbors.
Whateves.

I had so many Halloween polish reviews that I never showed you much of what was on my nails for Halloween manis! I did Instagram a few -- Follow me HERE!
So I will do a Halloween Mash-up of my favorite looks!

Here is one of my favorite combinations! It was simple and very appropriate for some Fall/Halloween pumpkin picking fun!
I used 2 coats of Julep Kendra (green), with 1 coat of Carpe Noctem Cosmetics This is Halloween, (orange jelly), over 1 coat of OPI Chop-Sticking to my Story (burnt orange).

Next up I used one of my all time favorite purples! 2 coats of Revlon Not So Blueberry! And it is even scented! <3 I love this one so much!
On my accent nail, I have 2 coats of Zoya Raven with 1 coat of Noodles Nail Polish Sleepy Hollow.
I used a paintbrush/dotting tool and ArtClub Stripers in black, white and red for the bats!

These next two looks you have already seen, whether on IG or on another post/review!
I used 2 coats of Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Fright Night and with some Art Club Stripers in black and white, and a dotting tool and toothpick, I created a cute little spider and a web! I really loved this combination! And the CNC polish was just such an awesome find.

For my last Halloween look, I used 2 coats of Spellbound Nails You're a Virgin? with a matte topcoat. On my accent nail, I did a water marble using Zoya Raven and Zoya Thandie. I added some dots using Raven with a dotting tool. Matte top coat over all!

I loved all these looks, but I think the Revlon Purple with the bats was my cutest look!

Which do you like? What are you planning to dress up for Halloween?

Have a safe and candy filled Halloween!

Sally Hansen Base coat used under all manicures with NYC topcoat (unless otherwise stated).

Indie Review: Spellbound Nails does Halloween

*Purchased by me (blogger discount)
*3 Free & Cruelty Free

I love Halloween. It is one of my favorite holidays. Maybe it's the candy or the costumes or the parties...Probably the candy, but I just love it! Since I have discovered the Indie Nail community, I find the indie polish makers create polishes for these niche holidays best.

I have 3 of Spellbound Nails Halloween collection for you today.

I normally don't like blacks, but the bottle shots Ashley showed of You're a Virgin? really sparked my interest. Plus, I wanted to matte it.

You're a Virgin? is inspired by who lit the black flame candle in Hocus Pocus. As a black jelly with red glitters suspended throughout, it really captures the essence of the black flame candle.

I layered 1 thick coat of You're a Virgin? over 2 coats of Zoya Raven. I went with the glossy look first using a coat of NYC top coat. Then...I matte-fied it and added a Halloween water marble accent nail!

I absolutely love it matted. This went on so smooth and looked so awesome both ways that I can't imagine not having this polish for Halloween! I finally settled on being a witch for Halloween and I have an inkling that this polish will go perfect!
I used Zoya Raven and Zoya Thandie for the accent nail.

Next up is Pumpkin Crusher, an orange to green thermal! Ashley also has this thermal available as a holo.

Pumpkin Crusher is another jelly polish with orange and green glitter suspended throughout. It changes from a bright orange (color when cold) to a bright green (color when warm). You can see it shifting from orange at the tips to green at the base of my nails here!

Shown here is 3 coats with 1 coat of NYC top coat. Application was smooth and it built up nicely in 3 coats. There is little to no visible nail line, which is what I always hope for with jellies!

My hands were warm so my nails kept wanting to change to the green but you can see my pointer and ring finger are almost totally orange.

This is my first thermal polish and I definitely thought it was cool, although I do wish I picked the holo thermal!

Next up I chose Firefly from Hell, a glow in the dark polish!

I layered 2 coats of Firefly over 2 coats of Julep Nan.

I love that Ashley added glitter to this! It really makes it such a pretty top coat! It dries matte and is very lightly textured, but a top coat would smooth it out perfectly.

For the next 2 pictures, I charge it for a couple minutes under a black light and took the photo in complete darkness. I was impressed with the initial glow factor, but I did find that the glow dulled over the next couple of minutes. It did still continue to faintly glow however and never lost its glow completely.

Overall, I love love You're a Virgin? and will definitely be using it again! You can check out the rest of Spellbound Nails Halloween collection on:

Disney Vacation

Hello! Before my recent Disney World vacation to Florida becomes a distant memory, I wanted to post the nails I wore as well as some photos and fun stories from my trip!
I haven't been back to Disney since I was very little. I didn't remember anything about it really and I was so pumped to be going back!
Here is a throw back Thursday photo of the first time I went to Disney and one of this past time!

It was so fun! My cousin and I spent the first night at Micky's Not So Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom. They had the Hallowishes light show and some awesome fireworks! We even saw a lot of the Disney Villians.

It was awesome!

On my nails I wore OPI A Definite Moust have from the Minnie Mouse Collection!

I used an Art Club white striper and a dotting tool for the dots and an Art Club black striper for the black Micky Mouse ears on my accent nail and on all my other nails.

My accent nail was 2 coats of Layla Soft Touch 01 and Spellbound Nails Fall in Love from her Fall 2013 collection was the perfect glitter! You can see more swatches of Fall in Love here! The black and red and holo glitters went so perfectly!
I got the inspiration for this mani on Pinterest HERE.

A funny thing that happened to me was on the first leg of my trip. Upon my arrival at the hotel there was a cute little squirrel sitting on my balcony! He ate treats right out of my hand! In hindsight...I shouldn't have done this...

But he was SOOO cute! When I was packing up the last night in that hotel, I opened my slider door to get some of the warm air inside. I looked up 30 seconds later to 2 squirrels INSIDE MY HOTEL ROOM sitting on my lounge chair next to the open door!
o.O
I shooed them out with a T-shirt but jeez louise! He sat outside my balcony looking in for quite some time. Poor little fella.

I was hoping to meet Cinderella while in Disney, but I never got a chance! I did meet a few of the other Princesses though!
It was a fun trip.

Did you take any fun vacations this summer?

Indie Review: Glitterfied Nails Diamond Ring

*Press Release
*3 Free & Cruelty Free

I have been totally out of commission since coming back from my vacation! I had a ton of fun in DisneyWorld, but apparently, I brought some germs home with me and now have a lovely sinus infection. Pretty much all I want to do is close my eyeballs so my head doesn't explode.
BUT I can't wait to show you this amazing glitter from Andrea at Glitterfied Nails called Diamond Ring. It is so amazing!!

So amazing that I swatched it over 3 different colors and I wore it around town in a Galaxy mani.

Diamond Ring is described as an iridescent opal glitter. It contains several different sized and shaped glitter in a clear base. The glitter shifts to many different pastel shades when over different colors and in different lights.

Here I layered Diamond Ring over 2 coats of Revlon Sugar Plum.

Diamond Ring showed a lot of blue here over Sugar Plum. I am falling in love with this glitter all over again! Shown here with 1 coat of NYC Top coat.

Another shot of Diamond Ring in the sun.

Next I paired Diamond Ring over 2 coats of Revlon Chroma Chameleon Cobalt.

I love how evenly this glitter topper spread out and what great coverage I got in just one coat. You can see how many more colors can out over this blue. I see yellow, orange, blue, green and red!

I swatched it one final time over 2 coats of OPI Manicurist Of Seville.

Manicurist of Seville is a deep maroon shade and the iridescent glitters show up great over this one too. This glitter topper is awesome! It went on so smooth and you can see I got great coverage in one coat. Dry time was average and all glitters dried flat to the nail.

I decided to use this as a topper over a Galaxy mani. If you follow me on IG @PossiblyChrista, then you already saw a sneak peek of this mani!
I am over the moon in love with this! This is my favorite galaxy mani to date!

Diamond Ring added just the right amount of galactic glitter to this mani.

What do you think? Do you think this glitter is as beautiful as I do?!

You can find Glitterfied Nails on
